The purpose of the taster session is for you to come into the salon on a normal training day and meet the staff, see the premises & find out more about the dog grooming courses. You will also meet current students and have an opportinuty to chat with them. The taster session will give you the chance to find out if one of our courses is right for you.
This is the first stage to becoming a professional dog groomer.
Some of the topics this course will cover are Health & Safety in the grooming salon, health checking animals, bathing and cleaning animals, cleaning and maintaining equipment, controlling and restraining animals, drying the different coat types and preparing their coats for styling. The course includes rough clipping & basic scissor work.
You will complete in house assessments on these topics and complete homework assignments during your course.
Learners who complete Level 2 can find employment in a salon as a dog groomer assistant.
It is important you set aside time at home to complete the homework & study (guided learning). A total of 183 learning hours is requires for this course, this is achieved with onsite tuition & guided home study.
Level 2 | 15 days tuition (on site) | £2,050

Qualification only £850 (includes registration & exams only) for those that already have the training experience
Learners must complete the Level 2 before they can be registered for Level 3.
During this course you will continue to use all of your Level 2 skills to prepare your dog for grooming. This course will cover trimming and styling a variety of breeds & coat types using the various grooming methods/techniques. This will be achieved by learners either working on a dog each or in pairs. Some theory work will be completed onsite.
Demonstrations will also be performed by the tutors.
You will be assessed on the following-
* Risk assessment & first aid
* Styling a wool mix coat dog
* Styling a drop coat dog
* Grooming a dog to breed standard
* A hand strip dog
There is also an evolve exam which is held twice a year. This exam is in June & November & must be booked 2 months in advance.
A total of 300 learning course is required for this course, this is achieved with onsite tuition & guided home study
Level 3 | 25 days £4,000

Qualification only £1,500 ( includes registration & exams only) For those who have completed Level 2 & have reached the required standard to complete the 7863 qualification.
A 1 day assessment will be required before enrolling.
The Open college Network Level 3 in Dog Grooming qualification.
You are not required to complete level 2 before enrolling on this course as the OCN covers all modules needed to become a fully qualified dog groomer and is regulated by Ofqual This course will enable you to go from novice to professional groomer.
This course will cover preparation & grooming a variety of coat types & styles.
OCN Level 3 | 25 Days | Price £4,500
(price includes VAT where Applicable)
Qualification only £1,500, This price does not include training as it is for those who are already working as dog groomers and have reach the required standard & would like a qualification.
Established groomers or groomers’ assistants do not need to complete a full tuition course, If you already have the experience or have previously completed a training course you can attend to complete the qualification only.
You will be required to achieve the Level 2 first before enrolling for the level 3.
You will be required to attend a pre-qualification assessment before enrolling.
As a result of the assessment you will need to attend skills gap days and/or may be advised to complete some extra tuition to reach the required standard for the City & Guilds 7863 Diploma in Dog Grooming.
You will also be required to produce evidence of your learning over a period of time to gain the underpinning knowledge and required learning course.

Our courses are available right throughout the year at our salon in Consett, we recommend potential trainees to book early to avoid disappointment.
Courses can be attended one to four day a week-
One day a week – Tues, Wed, Thurs or Friday
Two days per week – Tuesday & Wednesday OR Thursday and Friday
Four days a week – Tuesday to Friday
